Stay on approved trails
Avoid getting lost! Get it right! Stay on approved trails
While walking through Valencian landscapes, you may have encountered colored waymarks or signposts that even include the GR®, PR® o SL® marks. Sometimes these marks lead to routes that are of poor quality or even suddenly disappear, causing an unpleasant sense of unsafety.
The reason for this lack of accuracy may be that what you see is not an approved trail and, despite the good intentions of its designers, it does not meet the requirements and quality associated with approved trails, giving a false sense of safety and possibly causing people to get lost or go the wrong way.
Why should I stay on approved trails?
- Because they provide safety, quality, and correct information about the activity to be undertaken.
- Because they are subject to control and monitoring from their design to their approval by the FEMECV. In other words, they are objectively reviewed by a qualified Trail Technician, who ensures that the requirements established in the current regulations are met at the time of their creation.
- Because they promote awareness of the natural and rural environment of the spaces through which they pass, encouraging a culturally and environmentally respectful approach to sport.
- Because they revive the traditional routes they follow and they also highlight the importance of other tourist resources.
- Because their signage follows the internationally accepted and well-known system of GR®, PR® o SL® waymarks, which is used in much of the European Union, facilitating hiking for any user regardless of their country of origin.
- Because approved trails become part of the "Public Trail Record of Comunitat Valenciana" (Registro Público de Senderos de la Comunitat Valenciana) and the "State Trail Record" (Registro Estatal de Senderos), which means they are included in a select list of nationally supported routes.
- Because using them fosters the development of the towns through which they pass, supporting a sustainable model of life and progress.
