The trail of the quarrymen's shelters is particularly representative of the history of the town of Novelda, as the stone quarries have been the livelihood of this town for centuries. In addition, the Mola mountain range is home to the castle of La Mola, of Islamic origin, and the modernist sanctuary of the same name.

Route description (only available in Spanish)

Desde el aparcamiento del santuario de la Mola caminamos unos 50 metros por la carretera que da acceso al lugar para continuar por un sendero hacia el Sur. Ascendemos por la senda y giramos paulatinamente hacia el Suroeste hasta alcanzar un cruce que nos lleva al Noroeste y después al Norte. En esta confluencia encontramos el primero de los tres refugios de canteros que podemos visitar en este sendero.

Prácticamente en la mitad del recorrido encontramos otro cruce. Seguimos hacia el norte y dejamos el ascenso a la mola hacia el Este por el PR-CV 311. A poca distancia del anterior emplazamiento y con un paisaje rojizo de arcillas llegamos a la casa Cova. Se trata de una vivienda en ruinas excavada en la tierra. Continuamos y poca distancia giramos al Sureste hacia el barranco que bordea por el Norte el puntal de Bartolo hasta que el paisaje se abre y nos muestra el cauce del Vinalopó y algunas construcciones ligadas a la conducción del agua.

Continuamos hacia el Este y Sureste y después de pasar una primera cantera en la que hay una pequeña escuela de escalada. Llegamos al área en la que se encuentra la balsa para el estudio y recuperación del fartet, un pequeño pez que vive en charcas, acequias y balsas. A pocos metros de este emplazamiento vemos la carretera y el aparcamiento donde empieza el sendero, lugar al que nos dirigimos.
