Route description (only available in Spanish)

El itinerario es un recorrido circular, con dos ramales de ida y vuelta para visitar el puente medieval y el Azud.

El sendero empieza en la pinada de enfrente de la ermita, a la izquierda del camino de acceso al paraje desde Almassora. Por las escaleras situadas justo delante de la ermita, se baja hasta el llano de inundación, junto al lecho del río. Desde aquí tenemos la posibilidad de acercarnos al puente medieval (por la derecha). Por la izquierda, en el sentido de la marcha, el recorrido principal discurre por el llano, donde se pueden observar especies propias de la vegetación de ribera (chopos, cañas, juncos…) y de otras también mediterráneas (garrofera, olivera, granado, limoneros, cipreses, pino blanco…)
Al final de recorrido junto al río, el sendero sube por una pista hasta una pinada, ya fuera del lecho del río.
Desde aquí se puede ir, por la derecha, hasta el Azud de Almassora y Castellón – importante obra hidráulica del patrimonio histórico-artístico comarcal – situado a poco metros, o bien por la izquierda salir al camino viejo de Santa Quiteria que seguiremos hasta volver al punto de inicio.
La Casa de las compuertas que es desde dónde se regula el azud, pertenece al Sindicato de Riego de Almassora y Castellón. Existe la posibilidad de contactar con el guarda y que nos haga una visita guía explicándonos el funcionamiento de las diferentes compuertas
Antes de llegar al final de la ruta pasaremos junto a la pinada en la que se encuentra el área recreativa.
Justo enfrente de la Ermita, el sendero enlaza con la nueva señalización de la Vía Augusta que por el norte sigue hacía Borriol y hasta Traiguera, y por el Sur entra en Vila-real por el puente medieval y sigue hasta Valencia.
