Following the inspection carried out by trail technicians, this trail has been declared of "limited adequacy" as a result of the faults detected in the signage. These include inadequate horizontal signs (paint markers) and/or vertical ones (trailheads and information boards) or lacking direction markers that do not provide sufficient information to properly follow the route. The builder of this trail has been informed of the situation.
For safety reasons and during maintenance work, it is advised to be extremely careful while taking this route. Furthermore, mountain sports entail risks associated with the activity itself and the environment where they take place, for which any person is fully liable. For this reason, hikes need to be planned properly and adequate training, equipment and sensible use of the trails are required.

Around the houses of Upanel and Monfortera you discover the colour of the different types of clays and the effort of humans over the centuries to control water for their survival. This route runs along wide tracks and paths that include unexpected corners.

Route description (only available in Spanish)

Desde el parque de Vistahermosa de Aspe caminamos por la calle Cantal de Eras y la avenida de Santa Pola. Abandonamos el núcleo urbano para continuar por la calle Camino de la Ermita y más tarde por el camino de Upanel. Caminamos inicialmente entre casas y huertas para sumirnos cada vez más en canteras de arcillas de formas y colores espectaculares. A la altura de la casa de la Monfortera seguiremos por el camino de las Canteras hasta alcanzar el mirador del Puente de los Cuatro Ojos. Continuamos la pista y a escasa distancia llegamos al barranco de los Ojos. Dejamos la pista unos minutos y caminamos hasta el Puente de los Cinco Ojos. Ambos puentes son construcciones del siglo XVIII y obedecen a la necesidad de abastecer de agua a Elche. Regresamos a la pista para seguir hasta la ermita de la Santa Cruz, nuestro destino, no sin antes visitar la fuente de Mari Pepa, acceder al castillo del Río o a la fábrica de la Luz y contemplar viejas canteras de yeso y arcilla. Finalmente, accedemos a la ermita de la Santa Cruz, donde finaliza nuestro recorrido en una posición elevada que nos permite contemplar parte de la comarca.
